Aging

Aging into

Her late 90s

Still proud and

Clinging to the

Regal manner

That was her way

Most everything

Continued as before

The bridge club

Social circle

Church group

Met as usual

Tea and cookies

Were served

The weekly hair

Appointment

Never missed

Still sharp as

A tack

She just couldn’t

Smell the urine

In her adult diapers

Shadows

The shadows

Did a playful dance

Across the landscape

For a moment

It appeared

An intruder

Was lurking

When it was

Only the sun

Playing tricks

With its magical

Light

Anniversary

Today is the anniversary of our first lunch

I call it our first date

You insist you never went on a date

In a way, our first date was our dinner

Where I gave you my business card

With all eight of my possible phone numbers

You were wearing a dark red pants suit

And strode purposely across the room

And I thought to myself

“Wow, she is very interesting.”

I had no idea!

Now, as we begin our 23rd year together

You are more interesting

With each passing day

And my love for you grows

In its abundance
